The Charities Program:
We decided to take up cash donations at all club functions throughtout the year. Anyone interested in donating to this program should contact Steve Love. At the end of the year, the "Charities" committee recommends worthy charities to support in the Florence area. The Retiree's Club votes at our November meeting on the distribution of this fund. The committee: Steve Love, Chairman, Joe Lett, Don Wedgeworth and Jim MacMillian. In 2011, we collected $1,100!!! We donated to the House of Hope of the Pee Dee, Lighthouse Ministries, and the Harvest Hope Food Bank of the Pee Dee.
In 2012, we collected $2350 and this money was distributed on December 17 to the following:
House of Hope $600
Mercy Medicine $600
Harvest Hope Food Bank $600
Lighthouse Ministries $550
Our 2013 Charity collection is now $1,090.00. Anyone wishing to contribute by check at any time should make the check payable to DuPont Retiree's Club and mail it to Steve Love, 708 Yorkshire Court, Florence, SC 29505.
WRAP (Wheelchair Ramp Access Program):
This team will assist Light House Ministries in building wheelchair ramps in the Florence area. Lighthouse Ministries furnishes the material. Dave Campbell coordinates the needs, Our volunteer team will design, haul the material to the site and build the ramp. Our Team: Don Bellefeuil, Chairman, Joe Lett, Rich Thomas, Don Wedgeworth, Robert Watson, John Bertels, Steve Love, Buddy Prosser, Frank Steinkruger, Cecil Gray, Art Sweeney, Harold Horton, Wallace Felder, Clyde Turner and Bob Vitali.
As of the end of 2012, this team has completed 4 ramps.
During 2013, this team has completed 2 ramps.
