DuPont Retirees, Florence

Retirees Club Charities

For 53 years our DuPont Plant has been a strong corporate citizen in the Florence area. The Retiree’s Club decided to carry on the DuPont tradition!  Although many of our club members volunteer for other programs in the area; our Retiree’s Club decided to collect money during the year and then choose charities in the local area to donate

The Charities Program:

We decided to take up cash donations at all club functions throughtout the year.  Anyone interested in donating to this program should contact Steve Love.  At the end of the year, the "Charities" committee recommends worthy charities to support in the Florence area.  The Retiree's Club votes at our November meeting on the distribution of this fund.  The committee: Steve Love, Chairman, Joe Lett, Don Wedgeworth and Jim MacMillian.  In 2011, we collected $1,100!!!  We donated to the House of Hope of the Pee Dee, Lighthouse Ministries, and the Harvest Hope Food Bank of the Pee Dee.

In 2012, we collected $2350 and this money was distributed on December 17 to the following:
    House of Hope                   $600
    Mercy Medicine                  $600
